Commissioned by the Financial Times Weekend to accompany Alison Wolf's essay on apprenticeships in Britain, these photographs were made at the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre (AMTC) in Coventry.

The assignment follows apprentices learning precision machining, engine assembly, electronics and robotics, documenting the practical skills and advanced technologies at the heart of modern engineering training.
